This little bird is enjoying the feeder. Actually, we have 6 bird feeders and one heated bird bath. So far, though, I've only seen 1 bird using the bird bath, but we just got that not too long ago.

| Dog Booties |

I made 298 dog booties for the Iditarod this year. Some I sewed ribbon on under the Velcro which made them quite pretty--the idea being the musher might want to use them for the Ceremonial start or Re-Start. But I didn't think to take a picture of those before we mailed them to Alaska. Booties protect the dogs' feet from snowy ice chips, not cold.

Getting in the hot tub is really tough when I have to walk in the snow. The table, chairs and steps to the hot tub even have snow on them! We had quite a wind with this snow, blowing it from the west, right through the screen.

The rhododendrons are covered with snow. This was just the beginning of the 3 day storm that produced 8 1/2 inches of snow.

I love it when the snow sticks to the trees, but not when it sticks to the power lines!

Bird feeders on the front porch. There is a 3rd one at the far end. The hanging basket of violas isn't doing too well at the moment!

The pond, fountain and bird bath. The bird bath is heated so the water won't freeze. The bird is fake; I painted it with finger nail polish because I was too lazy to go buy a can of red spray paint, but the polish is coming off.

Jerry and His New Toy |

Now here's a man proud of his new John Deere! Actually, the tractor isn't new, but the front end loader is. The funny thing is, he tried to clean the snow off the driveway (the 8 1/2 inches) and got stuck at the bottom of the driveway! He needs chains! He has weights for the back of it, but the bar they're supposed to hang on is too big for the weights.

This is why when it snows we just don't go anywhere. Our driveway is under those footsteps! This is the same storm, it just wasn't over yet.

This is what we call the lower lot. The "flowers" bordering the street are hibiscus. I cut some dried pods and brought them in the house (made an arrangement with dried hydrangeas, eucalyptus and peacock feathers).

Unstuck and In Action |

When the tractor was stuck the other day, it was stuck about where it is now. Jerry managed to get it out, but couldn't get it back up the driveway because it was too slick, so he drove down the road and into the lower lot. There's a crossover where he can drive over the ditch. Now the temperature has warmed up and he's working on getting the driveway cleared. I think he's having fun doing it, too!

I walked up the street toward Debbie's barn and got a picture of our upper lot. I've taken pictures of our house from the upper lot before, but have never taken a picture of the upper lot. It's actually very pretty!

Horse pasture, a tree and a bit of the barn, and of course, the mountains. Again, this was taken from our street beyond our house. Someday, I'll walk even further up the hill and see how it changes the views.
