The old mower, which, even with chains, would not mow the hills.

And the new mower, which will mow the hills, at least more of them than before.

We were about to have a storm so I cut all the daffodils rather than have them beat down. The crystal vase was a retirement gift from the office, and I treasure it.

The Porch |

We heard a terrible thud about 9:15 at night and thought a tree had hit the roof. Instead, the porch roof had come off! The only thing holding the roof up there is the end wall and the power cord to the ceiling fan, which still worked!

This is the roof of the screened porch! The wind apparently followed the curve of the hillside up and under the roof of the porch, flipping it on the garage roof. The light and ceiling fan still worked!

This just makes us sick. Had the roof slid down, it would have severely damaged the hot tub.

Bird's Nest |

A bird has made her nest inside this pumpkin! The pumpkin had been faced toward the door, and when I opened the door I startled the bird. She almost flew into the house, so I turned the pumpkin and put a small dish of bird seed up there as a peace offering. However, I don't think she has returned.

Mamma got tired of her babies pestering her for milk all the time, so she escaped to this little pen.

The little female figured out that it was easier to get on the ledge from the right, where the dirt was built up. She fell off several times, but kept at it.
Success! |

And she made it. She was so proud of herself!

"Here I am, Mom!" Those little goats are smart, especially the female who figured out how to get to her mom.
Oh, No! |
4/15/2005

So mamma ran away again and left her in there! She found her way out in a hurry, though!
